On the Transgender Experience After the Bio-Singularity

It should come to no surprise that for a lot of transgender and non-binary individuals, the march towards transition (if they decide to go through with it!) is a long and difficult one. The balance act that one must do with hormones, the risks of surgery and the vast rewards one can get if all goes according to their personal plan, etc. It is definitely a journey that can be troubling for many who partake it. In the present, medical technology is only beginning to catch up to our desires and needs, though hormonal treatment is a patchwork of other fields of medicine, and many surgeries are still in their infancy with regards to technique. Regardless of the nature of these procedures, we still live through them and become ever joyous at the results they bring.
A major tenet of Bio-accelerationism is the advancement of biotechnology to unseen degrees. Now, it should be no surprise that medical technology as a whole would be advanced as well, but let us for a moment, consider the benefits this will bring to transgender and non-binary individuals. The long and drawn out nature of hormonal treatments could be surpassed in mere days or hours (perhaps maybe minutes!), invasive surgeries wouldn’t need to be done as the flesh would be commanded to form itself in the direction the recipient would want it to. Even at the genomic and molecular level the individual could be changed, XY chromosomes no longer necessary? The bio-singularity will have treatments for you that can turn every genome in every cell in your body to the direction you want to take it in. The benefits that the bio-singularity bring seem to be endless.
It seems very likely that the bio-singularity would make the difficulties of life as a transgender or non-binary person virtually non-existant, but it might also reveal something about humanity we might not have the capability or scope to realize yet. The bio-singularity might reveal a large plurality of humanity having gender diverse identities. I estimate now, personally, that between 5 to 25 percent of humanity do not fit within our modern conception of being “Cisgender”. I think the technological availability the bio-singularity will bring will also show us the true scale of the once formerly small “community”. For all we know, the number might climb higher the longer these technologies are available.
As it stands, the future will be exceedingly wild for queer people who deem it necessary to use medical tech to attain their desires, and if my predictions hold true, perhaps it will be many future humans who will as well! Besides all this, it should be noted that a lot of traditionalists, conservatives, and liberals will practically be squirming in their seats watching people attain their greatest form, and I think that is something we should all be excited to witness once the time comes. Their worst nightmares come alive before their own eyes.
The Neo-Cambrian won’t just be an explosion of biodiversity, but sexual and gender diversity.
